"People need to understand that hospice is about living,..."It's about living as well as you can when life has dealt you a bad deck of cards. Having your dignity, your quality of life, as little physical and emotional suffering as possible -- that's what hospice can do for people."
This article discusses the need for hospice care to become "open access" - to offer treatments for patient comfort that are not currently covered under the hospice Medicare benefit. FYI - Trustbridge is one of only 4% of hospices in the U.S. that admits patients to hospice care who need to continue palliative treatments for comfort. In 2017, we were able to provide extraordinary comfort measures (chemotherapy, radiation, intravenous medications and transfusions) to 807 patients thanks to the generosity of our donors!
